Solartex is supposedly fuel-proof but at least on some colors the weave is still easily felt and that mean bits of grit with attach themselves (not actually all that bad on a scale model). Also if are going to paint on any markings (for example with Latex) you'll need to add a final (ideally sprayed) coat of something like Miniwax polyurethene or polycrylic.

Solartex is great stuff. I always order from Balsa USA.

BTW, here's a image that gives you a rough idea of the color of the different types of Solartex.
