Default RE: walkera vs. align

Hey thecheatscalc,

After about 3 minutes of hovering, the old motor got so hot that I couldn't hold my fingers on it for more than a second or so and probably still wasn't at it's max. temperature at that point. It also started smelling of burning plastic. I just never tried longer flights with it, as I didn't want to risk blowing it up. Even a heat-sink didn't make much of a difference. It took at least 5 minutes to cool down to reasonable temperatures again.

The Align 420LF seems to max out at a temperature where I can still hold my fingers on the heat-sink without burning myself, even after beeing in the air for 8 minutes or so. I would call it pretty warm but holdable. After a few minutes on the ground, most of that heat is already dissipated again. Sorry, but I don't have exact temperatures for you. Ambient temp during my test-flights was around 25 degrees C, I think.

Grtz,
