Well... I've completely built four and partitially built two others... and have a couple of hundred flights on this particular model... so I might qualify.
It's actually alot easier to have them come out tail heavy than nose heavy. Putting two elevator servos in the tail usually means a battery pack up by the firewall.
I've flown the plane with the CG from 4" to 6". I'd recommend starting at 4" even though the manual says 4.5". I think most people will end up liking it best between 4 and 4.5 inches. 5" is probably as far back as anyone could possibly want it for 3D. Having said that I did fly mine for 100 flights at 6" back... but it was really too unstable. Ironically, I moved it up to 4.5" and stuffed it on the next flight.
