RE: Realistic Combat?
I would limit everybody to one style of plane and one make of engine. It's the same deal all over, eveyone looking for an edge. We used to run Hangar 9 Supersticks and TT 46 pro engines. You could recover the airplane but we set a minimum weight. Why? Well as soon as the covering came off the dremel was whipped out and you can really REALLY lighten them bad boys up.
Then, we were all supposed to run STOCK TT 46's with an engine buy option. Any engine could be bought for the price of an engine plus 10 bucks. Stock engines. So the hobbyshop owner, who has been going through every engine as it comes in the shop looking for the tightest fit, starts getting mad when folks say that replacing the bearings with Boca bearings claiming you can get em from the factory if you specify them that way. Ya, but it's not STOCK. You know the routine. Everybody always looking for an edge.
The most fun is at the beginning where everyone has the same stuff, nobody has a clue as to whats going on and you can't get new streamer and fuel into the airplane fast enough to get back in the air.
Hold everyone to one design of airplane and one motor, more folks will be happier.
