I can't and will not even try and answer for Jerry. But, I can see what he is getting at. IF the FAA had an ongoing investigation, and fact is THEY DID, perhaps the tone in some of the things that were being discussed on RCU may have contributed to their decision. Nobody likes being misquoted andI am no exception. So, assume FAA personnel were montoring this site. IF they saw a remark, something like: "I have a friend in Washington and he'll take care of those FAA yoyos" or anything else that might make our total membership look like a bunch of morons, it is only natural for them to take a closer look at what kind of organization they might be dealing with. The way I understand Jerry is that a small group was responsible for getting the FAA involved in the first place. That same small group really pithed off some Full Scale Pilot and he in turn went to the FAA to show the modelers who was boss. The FAA investigated, checking out MANY things, including RCU, in the process, and decided that perhaps it was time to enforce a policy that has been on their books for years. Some uf us DO know what is going on and it may not be prudent to divulge how we know or what the sources or connections in government might be.
Regardless of all this, let's stop the idle chatter about who said what and what meaning the words may have conveyed. Let's pool together and pool our suppoprt, our knowledge and our intellegence and do what we can to show the FAA that we are a responsible bunch of aviation enthusiasts and all we want is a chance to enjoy our sport. We need to show them that we are generally a smart bunch of guys who hold no malice towards anyone and have been co-habitating with full scale airplanes for over 25 years!

Without naming names, I take it this "small group" was the group that attempted to enlist the help of a State Senator to influence the FAA? Or a small group out in California?
