First tests Wildhare G202 in 3D
I have had a lot of inquiries about the G202's capability in 3D type flying. My answer so far has been "we don't know, haven't really tested it that way".
Today we (really David McCutchen who does the really hard stuff) put in a half dozen flights, setting the plane up and trimming it for 3d.
All I really did was increase the elevator throws to about 40 degrees. The plane came alive.
It was really impressive. Waterfalls, ki=nife edge spins, elevators are all excellent. A waterfall with power on quickly turns into an end-over-end tumble that winds up into a tight little knot. We actually took some elevator out to open this up a bit.
The plane is short, so with this setup it's not quite as smooth and graceful as a TOC plane, but what a barrel of fun. We're just beginning to explore the setup and trim options, but clearly the plane is inherently an excellent 3d machine.
To all the people I told it was just a pattern plane, I take it back. It's much more than that.

PS: They're almost here, just a couple weeks.
