Default RE: 1.60 carb mod project

My schedule at the moment is to at least get the engine broken in on a test stand and begin with the vp-30 testing and carb adjustments for a base line by or before it gets too cool outside. I’m still working on the Edge at the moment and it would be great if I can get some fight testing in before winter. I have plenty of other things to fly at the moment so I am not strapped to get this done right away. I figure as long as I am experimenting with a fair amount of money invested in this engine I should take my time.
As far as caster goes, yes I can understand how a cowled in engine could benefit from a caster fuel or at least a mix of caster and synthetic because of a lean run or a hot muggy day. However, (here comes the gasps of horror) I intend to break in and use exclusively 30% heli fuel with 18% synthetic oil, wildcat to be particular. My thinking here is as hard as we are on airplane engines in hot muggy summers and lean runs and torque rolls and I know a number of engines have been killed in that kind of environment, and I don’t want to keep harping on this but a 61,70,80 or 91 2-stroke glow engine in a heli doing the kind of wild 3d stuff that is common place is much more grueling and demanding then airplanes are. If properly tuned, fuel fed and exhausted, a heli engine can run just fine in that environment without any damage. I’m just attempting to borrow a bit of experience in this area and move it to airplanes and see if will do any good. Sounds good in theory anyway….
