Years ago, RCBM has a small article on some oddities that people were building to run on the water. There were large pop bottles, a large tube of toothpaste, a crab and a converted toolbox. The toolbox looked interesting. Carry it to the lake, pull out the top tray and all of your other gear, lock the top then toss it in the water! That would freak some people out. One local boat builder put 2 Frisbee's together, one for the top and the other for the bottom and powered it with a Cox .049 just for something different to do.
