A real set screw is recessed in the middle leaving a sharp ring that will sink into the aluminum, plus the aluminum will flex and keep conatant tension on the screws. I think draw-bars are the best overall method for securing carbs and there is material in the casting for one but they are much more difficult to drill accurately.
