The grease in the suspension is probably rock hard, u-joints, ball joints etc.
When I picked up my Kombi VW it had been sitting for a number of years and I had to replace the entire brake system also and I also had to clean and re-grease everything that need grease.

Right after I posted this I saw an add for a 800cc fuel bottle. Kind of puts the displacement into perspective.
