You should be able to fly with the stock nimh, i have done this several times. the only thing i can think of is the pitch adjustment. did you add pitch or take it away? the pitch adjustment is very sensitive on the blade and can rob you of precious lift. but the CF blades should fly really well, and i think they track better than the wooden syms.
