hello all. im a new pilot( i started flying a few months ago) i learned on my own and after my first attempts with a parkzone cub i moved to a parkflyers edge 540t. after flying the 540t succesfully/ i purchased realflight g3 and highly recomend it to any new pilot or person wanting to learn to fly. ive been into rc for well over 10 years. ive raced 10th scale electric offroad for around 5 years and have a 8th scale nitro buggy i play around with these days. i think im doing pretty well as a pilot and would like to have more time to fly but usually its just one day a week for a few flights. ive seen a lot of the 3D stuff with electrics and have been pretty happy just to fly succesfully but was really interested in hovering. i currently have 3 planes/the e-flite yak 54f/parkzone typhoon and the parkflyers edge 540t(i have a e-flite 400 4200kv inrunner with e-flite gearbox and 12x6 prop) and that thing really rocks now/i also had a e-flite mini edge which had some qaulity issues.. e-flite puts out good products and i have there motors/esc/and batterys and chargers but i think my edge was just a fluke thing. anyway i flew my typhoon yesterday... all i can say is smooth.. easy to fly and very stable and i was fortunate that the wind out here.. which has been 10 to 20 mph lately was under 5mph/no fun flying when its over 10mph and the plane is constantly thrown around. id say the typhoon would be good for a newer pilot to do 3d it flys well has dual rates and enough power to hover and pull out... and it hovers pretty easy for me and its not like ive been flying for years. id have more flight feed back but barely ran a full pack through it.. i started at dusk and after trimming it out landing and trying the smaller prop it was dark.. i took it up again and did some hovering and just flew it around for a few more minutes to get a feel for it. you cant beat it for the price or features. im running thunder power 2100 mah lipos in it and rite now only mod im considering is to cut the gearbox shaft to run a prop adapter and some apc props.. correction cut extra shaft i have lol. well gonna fly it stock for the next few flights probally.. its not a very fast plane compared to some of my other planes but can move out pretty good and fly nice and slow to... i fly with the throttle every where depending on what im doing and bought this plane to do 3D so its probally gonna touch down a few times.. theres a full line of replacment parts and there fairly inexpensive.. so if your trying to do low 3D stuff that doesnt have much room or time for error you can fix it and get back in the air. id also recomend the e-flite yak 54f if you already have your own electrics.. it floats in the air.. has big throws and is easy to pull out of stuff when your really low.. i consider low around 5 feet. im a 3D beginner and new pilot in general but was very pleased with the short flights i had with the typhoon and plan to just fly it and the yak 54f until its to cold to fly
