You could hide the control horn inside the fuselage (in some planes) by using a torque rod setup, similar to the common aileron connection. That leaves the pushrod straighter for more positive function (each bend adds flex)

The normal way has the pushrod "Z" bent with about a 60 degree bend upward, 1 to 3 inches then bend back level. It exits a slot beside the forward portion of the fin and goes on back to the control horn. The upward angled section being in the exit slot in the fuselage.

You can also use the "NyRod" with the sheath anchored FIRMLY at every bulkhead in the fuselage. Any portion of the rod not inside the sheath needs to be metal wire. (the nylon inner core flexes to much if not supported.) Nyrod will flex through the bend and is more positive than a bent metal pushrod. It travels basicly the same route as the bent rod.
