TWIST PLUG&PLAY, 1st impressions
Spent the week-end at Hodges Hobbies annual Fall Fly-in, great fun had by all, including myself(although I didn't sleep much). Saturday, I purchased a Plug & Play Twist. It literally took me longer to plug in and trim the radio than it took me to assemble the plane. Assembly is very simple, stick on the gear, stick on the elevator & stab, plug in your receiver, attach the control wires (I did replace the clevis's with metal ones), attach the wing and go fly. Quality seems good and the price is very reasonable at under 300 dollars. A good deal when you consider the convience and time this saves a busy or lazy person. I placed the freshly assembled plane on the flight line, fueled it up, and the plane hand started on the third flip, AMAZING!! The jetting on the carb was close right out of the box. I had to richen the main slightly, it was a cool morning. We flew the plane and quickly burned the first tank. I say we, because several of my flying friends wanted a turn with the NRTF (nearly ready to fly) Twist. There were no dead-stick landings, normally the case with a new 2 stroke, glow engine. We flew the plane a couple more times with the same result, easy had starts, good idle and no dead-stick landings. The best one word adjective I can think of is EASY. The plane was also a good flyer and relatively docile on low rates. Let's hope my long term relationship with this plane is as good as our first impressions.
