Yes and yes. But I've seen for myself how tough this older style wing joining is. I witnessed one of the newer alum designed wing tubes rip in half recently. If you bust one of these joiners you got a total loss of the entire plane more than likely anyway.
A friend has an older style 1/4 scale Lazer that he recently de-covered and is prepping for new skin. It has this same style of joiner as well. Is it a hassle to assemble at the field ? Yes. Do I bring this plane to the field when I only have time for a few flights in the evening? No. This is a weekend bird. lol
