Default RE: just bought my spitfire!!

Luke21,
First of all, don't let anyone tell you you can't do something. I do highly recommend you spend the dough and buy the Great Planes G3 flight simulator and practice until you can fly the Spitfire and the P-51 proficiently. I have been flying for over 12 years and still practice on my sim all the time. The results are great down the middle of the runway landings, beautiful take offs and fun flying. I wish the flight sim would have been available when I first started. When flying your Warbird, always be ahead of it in your mind. Know what you're going to do next and follow through. Before your first flight Luke, hold your transmitter in your hands and stand behind your Spitfire. Run the entire flight through your mind. This will be nothing fancy. Just a simple takeoff, fly the pattern, then lign up your proach and land. When you do get her into the air and begin flying the pattern, bring her right over the run way several times to get some line up practice. I have flown my little Great Planes F4U Corsair powered by a Saito 65 4 stroke engine in winds in excess of 30 M.P.H. and landed perfectly down the runway. This received applause and cheers from all present. That was at a Warbird fly in about two months ago. This may surprise you, but Rustoleum paint has flat camouflage colors that look just fine on any warbird. Remember to use fuel proof clear coat over your paint job. RCKen is right. You should do some of your own research into this matter. IMPORTANT: Make sure your plane is balanced properly before flying her!

This is for all of you skeptics...Give Him a break!!! Words of encouragement are better than snears and jeers. Wow, if I had listened to this kind of talk, I would have bailed out of this hobby long ago. Sure, it's nice to have help and assistance. However, this may be the only place for this guy to go. This is why I did my first Warbird takeoff alone at the field. I did not want anyone else to be interfeering. Luke has asked for assistance, and that's what I'm doing. I'm not going to be skeptical, because I know it can be done. Come on guys, be positive.

"Keep 'Em Flying!"
