Default RE: is anybody else sick of arfs

i can say that there are those who think kits are cheating and that if you cant scratch build you are not much of a craftsman either and that you are degrading the hobby. in actuality this debate can go on forever but if you only wish to fly why build? i actually like woops pointed out like to build more than i do fly does that make me seem like i am degrading the hobby as well. now the one thing that arfs do is limit a builders choices because arfs are more prevelent and kits in the same airframe are getting scarce. however we can always fall back to scratching if need arises. arfs are fine so is scratching and building its all what the person wants to do. what is nice is that there is choice. i would hate it if all there was a choice in doing was building kits. i like the idea if i dont want to spend my winter on a new plane if i dont have to. plus some that fly arfs may not have the room to build a kit like those that live in apartments for example should they get excluded from our little "club" because they cannot build. i have an avid interest in photography but never had the room or money to put in my own darkroom but does that mean i cant enjoy it anyless? YES there are ARFs that are terrible however most repitible companies make good arfs. ask anyone that owns a hanger 9, great planes, sig, lanier, Goldberg arf and see what they say. now you may not beable to compete in scale competitions with a hanger 9 corsair but if someone just wants a fun sport scale let them without all the rhetoric about building and such.

addendum:
with my comment about choice let me state that i am a computer guy. and my choices for most software is primarily windows. i like and use linux but there are no choices of hardware companies that support it fully. there is no choice in video games because all are released for windows. i put forth a parting thought if you didnt have the choice of building just assembly wouldnt you feel slighted against. then think now in the shoes of arf'ers if all there is are kits. why get into a hobby if you have to build. anything that gets people interested is fine by me and it should be too because to use the above example if there was such a strangle hold on the market that you have no choice, that is not fun.
