While the pickoff point on the hinge line is the very best solution for slack wires at extremes of throw, you can accomplish the same thing by offsetting the pull/pull pickoff point on the servo wheel. It's a pain in the tail to do, and requires some experimenting to get it right, but it does work OK and prevents flutter and bad stuff from happening without spending the extra $20 for extra hardware.
