You can't be that objective in a magazine. You would get blackballed by the manufacturer. The buggy may fall apart from the vibration of the starter box, and bottoms out over body pins lying on the track, but you can't just pulverize it with your review, because that manufacturer won't send you a car to test next time. You can't write a magazine without cars to review. Its politics, and its not fair, but it is reality. You can look for subtlties though. Like ". . .not quite in the same class as. . ." actually means this thing belongs at Radio Shack, or ". . . some users may want to upgrade this piece. . ." means do it or else. Every once in a while a magazine comes along that tries that honest review idea, but they either change to the suck up philosophy, or go out of business.
