Unless you find a really good deal at an auction, you will be restricted to RTF (ready to fly) park fliers for that sum.
Planes in the FireBird line can be be bought for around $100. They are slow, electric and fly OK. However, they are intended for low wind conditions (5MPH or less) which may limit when you can fly. Most I've seen are two channel. You use throttle for altitude control and then just steer left/right. IMO I'd consider these planes more "toy like" than other models, but they are functional RC planes, just with limited performance and control.
