I did not seal the gaps as I also used CA hinges and the gap is small. If I need to, I can do it later (have done it before).
Fuel dots make it easy to "burp" a YS and not have fuel spraying all over if you forget to vent the tank before fueling. I have used them for years with good success and they have a nice clean appearance so the model looks nicer. I actually considered just reaching in the front and disconnecting fuel lines to fuel and defuel but I had the dots already so decided to just use them. I like the way it came out.
