As you said, you are there to Teach. So it should be assumed from the start that not only will he need help in learning how to fly, but also help in understanding why he needs your help. Build his confidence up by letting him know what a great job he is doing, but let him know that you are there just as a safety net or a little insurance in case something don't go quite right. If you make him feel like you are hovering over his every move then he may feel like you lack alot of confidence in him. So give him a little space to breath, and maybe try standing behind him on the Master Box instead of beside him. This way he feels like he is in control. Some people just require different types of teaching methods then others. You just need to find what works best for you and him. The main thing is not to give up, because one day he will appreciate what you did for him I hope.
