Hi Ianj,

what a piece of prose!! I'm impressed. For me, the addiction took the form of rc aircraft as I have always been spellbound by the wonders of flight. I blame Percy Pilcher not the Wright brothers, he was the guy that took to the heavens first, or was that Icarus??
Anyway I sympathise with you. One of my mates was given the choice of his wife or model airplanes. Guess which one he chose? He now has at least three rc aircraft in every room in his house.
I have just retired from the Fire Service after 28 years and have been flying rc aircraft for about seven years. Just recently I bought myself a Winner Sport off road buggy so I can still get the nitro kick when the weather is too bad for flying.
My workshop is my haven, my sanctuary. It is to this safe place that I retire when life gets too much. My only contact to the outside world is via a portable radio. If you haven't got a workshop make it a priority.
It's nice to know that like minded people exist worldwide and have the same restrictions placed upon them (or try to) by the fairer sex.
Oh yes the other attraction of flying rc aircraft is that you get to visit the A&E of the local hospital quite regularly with minced up hands and fingers. This is fine if you have a triage nurse who is a peach.
Drop me a line anytime.

Regards,
