Not so sure about the revving sounds, I think you're alone on that one. As a dedicated nitro racer I just ask her to give me the "do-da-do," one minute to go tone.

I've been with my girlfriend long enough now that I have realized that racing is just one of those things that I need to do by myself. You have to let her know that too. Now she is fine with my hobby. I think the problem comes more when you're married and it becomes "our" money.
