RE: Removing Compression Release on Honda GX25
The pivot pin is swedged /rolled over on release arm , grind off the rolled portion and you should be able to press the pin out of the arm.
The compression release retracts at 600 cam rpm or 1200 crank rpm. I asked Bob at ASMBA about this as he makes cams for Honda minis and would know.
The compression release will swing out slowly as rpm goes down below 1200 and be in full effect at 750 rpm or lower. Crankshaft rpm. With manufacturer tolerances and tach errors , if you are idling at 1200-1500 rpm , I suggest to take the release out.
In any case you can take it out and not worry. Its only in there to get Honda the low cord pull they like to brag about, who really cares? they start on the first pull all the time anyway , not like starting a two stroke: 100 pulls later just to get a pop?
*edit added rpm clarification*
