Firstly. All David suggested is that you talk to Electric Jet Factory about the correct jet and set up to get started. Nothing else.
Secondly. If all you've been flying is a Firebird II, I'd suggest you get some stick time on a 40 size trainer before attempting a prop jet let alone a ducted fan jet. They are three completely different animals!
Thirdly. Your prices for the base edf equipment are probably not far off. Again, talk to Electric Jet Factory about a good entry level EDF jet. Or try the ElectraJet from Hobby Horizon. Glow jet, the Kyosho F-86 doesn''t have that good a reputation, but I haven't seen one fly. It uses mini servos and a 4 channel radio.
Take you pick, but be ready for disapointment when it rolls over and does a header into the ground.
Have you been flying on simulator? Borrow one from a friend and find out how difficult it can be to fly any jet.
We're not questioning your ability, none of us know you, but are just giving you the advice that you requested.
