RE: what's the advantage?
Im running aluminum shoes on my Xray and they have about a gallon of fuel on them and still looks great. You have to keep them up by cleaning the shoes with denatured alcohol and sanding the bell with fine sandpaper every quarter of a gallon or so. Aluminum has better bite than carbon. A lot of people claim that aluminum shoes get hot, but its the carbon shoes that discolors the clutch bell from all the slippage.
