OK, first, the answer to your question, assuming no specific club is involved and it is just a set of circumstances you describe. I think the club is foolish to impose such restrictions on a sanctioned event. Most sanctioned events are designed to raise money and discouraging participation is not real sharp. Having a policy that does not allow visitors from the area falls in the same category… not real sharp. Simply, it is not a club I would want to belong to. On the other hand, I believe that they should, as a club, be allowed to do what they want. In the case of the club near me I noted in this thread, it finally struck me that having all of these people in one place and not out there driving the other clubs and their members nuts is a good thing, in my opinion.

Now, back at the farmhouse… once again we have learned that it is rare that anyone posts all of the pertinent facts in their initial post. The sign below is posted on the TMC site.
