Default RE: AMA sanctioned events stinginess

crankshaft: "Once again I will ask...What is your opinion of a club that desires to restrict otherwise qualified AMA members from participating in AMA sanctioned events? Or restricts members from having guests from the local area? "
My opinion is that a Club can do whatever the Club so desires. OTOH if the Club restricts AMA members from an AMA Sanctioned Event, and that event is NOT sanctioned "Cr" then any AMA member has the right to a formal complaint to AMA, which should then address the issue with the event's sponsor/host/Contest Director.

As far as limiting guests within any specified distance, that too is Club Business. At my club, any individual residing within 100 miles of the club flying site may not be a guest more than three (3) times in any twelve (12) calendar months.

At our private club-owned facility, far too many cheap-skates wanted to be a "guest" every day, so we put a stop to it.
A member's house-guest can fly fourteen (14) days.
An individual outside 100 miles AND a member of another chartered club can fly eight (8) days.

Flying at any special club-event sanctioned or otherwise does NOT count under those limitations.

In summary, it's club business to operate as they see fit for their club. That is why there is a CLUB. [>:]
