RE: F9F Panther Scale Documentation?
The problem with the Blue Tail Fly is that in realitiy there is a lack of good documentation, especially if you want to compete with it. The BTF was an anomaly. In reality it was only in existence for about three weeks, and on the front in action for about 13 days. It was created when two airplanes were damaged, one an all aluminum aircraft in a test color scheme, the other an all blue model. The innovative mechanics put the two together and created the Blue Tail Fly. If you are not going to use it for high end competition then you can get some fairly good views in Scale and Detail, Panthers in Action, and another set of books which I have but cannot remeber the title right this moment.
A lesson I learned this summer at the WJM is that if you want to be really competitive with a model aircraft you need to find that plane and get as many pictures of it as possible for your documentation. Unfortunately the BTF was retrofitted or taken out of service and I have heard it is no longer in existence. Good luck with your endeavors, it is a beautiful bird. One of the best examples I have ever seen in person is Sung's model built by Henry Nguyen of HVN Models.
Might want to try to contact Henry, he might can help you.
