RE: TF Contender
Jim,
Visibility was a consideration as this is the smallest wingspan I have. The bottom is unadulterated black. The yellow wraps around the leading edge and back about an inch. I have some trees at one end of the field and dark colors disappear against this.
I've only laterally balanced one plane, a big Kadet senior. I did this after covering by selecting an appropriate nail, drilling and punching it into the wing tip then ironed on a monokote patch over it. Not noticeable and still there.
I've checked the lateral balance on my last three planes. All three had side mount engines with sport mufflers hanging off the right side. Every one of them was heavy on the right. I left them. I felt that this may help as the engine torque would want to off set this heavy right side. That logic was probably driven more by sloth then reason. What are your thoughts and experience?
