Balancing the Bearcat
Hi Jack, I hope you do not mind me sharing the excellent information you provided me with everyone esle.
" I balanced mine at 5 1/4" behind the leading edge of the wing measured at the root of the wing and it flew well at that location. You will love the flaps. Very effective on landing
approaches. You should not need them to take off but let it run on the main gear until you have a good bit of speed built up and it will lift off on it's own. The Bearcat has exceptional ailerons and I run about 20% differentiate on the ailerons. so they go up about 20% less than they go down. I needed 2.4 pounds of nose weight to balance the plane with a G-62 on the nose. The G-62 is converted to ignition.so it is about 1.3 pounds lighter than the stock G-62. It will respond quickly to elevator and rudder inputs and give the average pilot a whole lot of airplane to enjoy.
You might enjoy using dual rates on all of the tail surface flight control surfaces."
