A little curious how folks wash down their dirty vehicles after a day out on the mud, or something wet and sticky - not just plain dirt.
My last encounter with a ditch filled with water and the dust that sticks afterward was a little more interesting. Hosed the car (everything but near the engine area) , let it dry (big mistake) and cleaned it bits by bits to inspect the damage.
Front bearings seized

so I replaced them all with rubber sealed bearings. Not too bad ~U$40 a set for the car at the local bearing supplier store.
Luckily I've siliconed all electrical connections and the radio/battery containers shut so I can safely hose the electrics with moderate water pressure.
I've now siliconed the hose inlets to the fuel tank so I can hose that too without worrying water will get inside the tank.
The idea was to make the truck as maintenance free as possible at the end of the day - no more than 10-15 mins clean up work and should last 1-month on the shelf without rusting
