If the pinions are wearing out faster than the metal spurs then the pinions are not hard enough or the spurs are harder than the pinions. Heating them up and quenching them might make them last a little longer but ideally what is need is some real hardened steel pinions for the FF.

I wonder if Dr Honda would be interested in tooling up to make some gears. I have no idea what the tools would cost to make them but he wouldn't be limited to just CEN products.
