BE: That's a darn fine looking aircraft! I do like the see through covering on the panels. I am stunned to see the ailvators. Man, that thing must twist like a croc when you wiggle the sticks!

As for the gap, I bet you could form a spacer from balsa, sand to shape, paint and glue it on the nose and no one would know the diff!
