I'll ask you guys.
I finally did my first succcessful auto but it was a forced one. I have been running my Raptor with the stock TT39...had it really running sweet, but I had just switched to 20% nitro fuel. After making a few minor high needle adjustments (had gone lean with the new fuel or so it seemed) I was making a few FF passes and was heading back to the pits when I experienced a sudden loss of power. I managed to get stablized and hit the throttle hold for a fairly in control auto (only one bounce!). I just knew she had over heated but checked the back plate and all was well! I noted lots of smoke before the problem occured so....what the hey? When I got back to the pits I tried to restart but she turned over 270 deg. and seized. I just knew I burned it up. I tore it down at home and found pieces of the back bearing cage throughout. A piece had gone up the intake and wedged itself between the piston and sleeve jamming the ring in the proccess. A new piston and ring fron Heliproz is $37 and a bearing set is another $19. This may seem like a dumb question but is the TT39 worth rebuilding? It would cost $140 to replace with anything else. What say you all?
