Default RE: First Warbird what should it be?

Whatever you do get, kepp your airspeed up, watch the turns - many Mustangs have Laminar Flow wings which mean they're great for straffing the feild but can 'slip' out of turns..

Keep your airspeed on the better side of wrong (i.e. a lttle high) if unsure - Mustangs were great aircraft in real life, and in many ways out-performed our Spitfires over here in Great Britian - BUT they need a higher approacxh speed or else you get the wing drop..
So to summarise...

a) Ensure you have good airspeed before lifting off at take off
b) Once up, just fly level, with a SLIGHT climb attitude - you need to get speed!
c) When happy that you have good speed, begin your turn - out - but remember - dont try to turn AND climb steeply, if you run out of airspeed, these birds bite!
d) No low level aero's -just discover the 'peculiarities' of the model at a safe height - and trust me - there are some!
e) Set your self up well in the circuit for landing. Get a nice Downwind leg, base then finals. You can do a fighter approach (180degree semi circle from downwind to finals) but to start I would suggest the standard 'box' pattern - buys you time to 'feel' right about the landing.
f) Monitor your speed closely - first sign of a wing drop - FULL POWER and go around - don't try to land, you'll cock-it-up.
g) once down, stick back to keep your tail on the ground.

When you get used to doing all this - and you will, pretty quickly - you wil suddenly discover that you are really enjoying your flying and that you feel a great deal more confidant.

Kindest Regards from a Brit Mustang Pilot!!
