Rob, re: the 82, let me know what you conclude. I have an 82, too. My history with tachometers is they either work or they don't. I might suspect something wrong with the way the fuel is getting to the engine. 9000 to 13000 rpms ... big jump. Bubbles in the line? Pinholes? Vibrating tank?
