Default RE: G3 Performance

Your Processor will run it, your NVidia Card will do fine, but you may want to add another stick of Ram(at least get up to 512mb if running Windows XP). I am a Gamer and have played Half Life 2, Call of Duty 2, Far Cry, Battlefield 2, and now I am playing Guild Wars. All these games run better than what G3 does. It is not that G3 has graphics that are all that fantastic even compared to the previous G2. It is just that the Graphics Engine used in G3 is not that friendly or designed as well as high quallity games to run good on any computer unless perhaps you have a new Alien or Dell XPS, or something along those lines. You should be able to use it though with the settings at the bare minimums. There are some descent features with G3 if you are able to crank it up, but in most cases to get it to run smooth it will not be any better than G2 IMO. G3 is not a game, and is more of a training tool, but if it were sold as a game it would get terrible reviews due to the fact it should look almost life-like with requirements it takes to run it well. Fortunate for Great Planes it is not marketed as a game, and alot of RC Flyers view it only as a training tool, and many probally don't play the latest High Graphics games to know how a real good graphics engine performs with some machines that may even be several years old, but with some nice upgrades like Video, Sound and Ram.

I sold my G3 after owning it for about a month, and kept my old G2. As a training or refreshment tool it is ever bit as good as G3, and I also feel that Great Planes could have just come out with a software upgrade to G2 instead of coming out with a whole new Interface Radio and Software. I am thinking it probally had to with just trying to soak up another $190 from all those who allready had spent plenty for G2.
