The major brands of modern radios are generally very reliable. I would be quided by your instructor so what you purchase is compatible and you can easily access help in setting it up. Once you are sure you will stay with the hobby you will never have enough model memory so buy the largest capacity and features you can afford. Unless you plan to fly jets or complex gliders six channels are usually sufficient for most needs.
