Adding Weight... How?
I’m currently balancing my Ultra Sport 40, Ultra Stick 40, and Avistar 40 and have a few questions.
The Avistar balance was pretty close so I haven’t made any adjustments to it to date. It would probably benefit from an adjustment. However, it files pretty well now.
The Ultra Stick 40 was balanced (front to back) by attaching stick on weight (3 oz.) to the bottom of the fuselage at the tail. It is exposed, basically just attached to the outside of the fuselage. I haven’t added the weight to balance the wings (side to side) but it needs some adjustment.
I haven’t begun to balance the Ultra Sport 40 (ARF) yet.
My questions:
What is the best way to actually attach this weight? When I added weight to the Ultra Stick, I just attached it to the outside of the fuselage (using a little glue and a couple screws). This is OK but it doesn’t look very good. And now that I have to add weight to the wing – I don’t know where to actually add it.
Do I cut the covering and add it to the inside of the wing?
Does anyone have any great ideas for adding weight?
Thanks in advance for your help!
