Default RE: after plane starts to torque roll

ORIGINAL: q8cub

I am using FMS to torque roll, however, after a plance seems to start rolling, it kind of wants to dip on one side with the roll! Do I have to apply controls dymanically during the roll to keep the plance vertical ? or should it roll on its own once it starts rolling ?

Thanks in advance!
You need to use the elevator and rudder to keep it vertical in the torque roll and use them dynamically remembering that when the belly is towards you the controls are reversed.

What you want to do is try to anticipate what the plane is going to do before it actually does it. Most planes when pulling up into a hover and adding power will want to pull the nose to the left which you counteract with right rudder, now if your rudder has any pitch coupling then you will need to be ready on the elevator to stop the nose from dropping towards you or away from you. How much you need to use depends on several things.

You can use right aileron to slow the roll or even stop it. You need LOTS of control movement and may even need short blasts of power, using just enough to get more airflow over the surfaces to make them more effective.

It's all in the timing and usually requires lots of practice. But after a while it becomes second nature

Find a video of Quique doing a torque roll and listen closely to the engine. It's almost constantly changing power and if you look at the video several times you can start to corolate the engine sound and timing with the control surface movements
