Default RE: Ultra R/C Giles 202 UL 29%

I have questions. But first off, pipes are ugly.
Years ago we tried to hide the ugly cylinder heads sticking out of our models. Then along came big ugly mufflers. Then came bigger, uglier pipes. Pipes add weight and create drag and some are noisy. That must be true because pattern people try to hide them in the fuselage.

I used to say if it's not powerful enough, put a bigger motor in it but not big enough to screw up the overall performance of the aircraft.

I did think about using pipes and as a result I became kind of an unintentional collector of unused pipes, two of which are shown below still in their original boxes. The Fox pipe with it's cooling fins is many years old and it's once gleaming finish is tarnishing. OK, my pipe rant is done.

Now we come to my newest pipe the, MVVS, and my questions.
One observer said that the MVVS 1.6 gasser with it's pipe will accelerate the UltraRC Giles 202 out of a hover like it was shot out of a cannon. That's understandable but does it become difficult to hold a steady hover as the engine goes on and off the pipe? Is there enough thrust to hover before the engine goes on the pipe?
