Any thing is possible, if you want to spent a couple of hundred$$ on a $20 engine.
Basicaly this is a learning experance.
You might be able to maching a bronze thrust washer to go between the crank and crankcase. This would take the load when the crank moves with the prop. Some of the old Q35 used this method.
