ORIGINAL: hpiguy

Sometimes when R/Cs are shipped from overseas they are shipped using frequencies not allowed by the FCC for R/C use.

The R/Cs legally brought into the US must be on certain frequencies and within certain channels of those frequencies.

I know of 49mhz, 75mhz, 27mhz and 72mhz but I'm sure there are more I forgot.

The only time you'd get busted is if your radio caused interference with someones equipment and they traced it back to your transmitter. The chances of that happening are almost zero but it "could" happen. The power of these junk transmitters that Heng Long uses are so weak that the interference will likely never happen.
Ok, I know what you are saying about this junk transmitter. It is junk! I fly rc planes and most of them are on a JR 9303. I have been flying for 10 years and know a bit about RC and RC channels. Also I used to have a HAM radio certificate a few years ago. I do know this, the FCC does not care if you can only transmitt ten feet on a freq. that you are not licesened for. If you are caught doing so you will be prosicuted to the full extent of the law. Now when you buy an rc product, part of the price you pay, is for the fees, the almighty Government needs for their FCC dues. I know, I used to own a hobby outlet. Hen Long is in violation of the FCC rules, everytime they ship a product with an illegal Frequency. I am just not willing to risk a 20,000 dollar fine because some company finds it easy to send illegal freq. products to me.
