Finally spent a couple of minutes in a hover yesterday, (A MILESTONE FOR ME)! I was very excited, but flying it in the living room means I have little room for error, so anytime it started moving horizontally, I pulled back on the throttle...need decent weather for the park.
Anway, I upgraded the motor and put a 3-cell Li-Po battery on it, but am still flying with the flat-bottom blades. (LHS said they are much better for new pilots to learn to hover, etc). It made a significant difference in the handling of the heli, but it still seems pretty squirrely when in flight, mainly that the nose always wants to rotate, sometimes left and sometimes right. I adjust the tail rotor proportional setting and the trim on the radio and that helps, but is it normal for you to have to put continuous input on the stick to keep the tail pointed toward you during hovers?
On a side-note...when I took the heli back to the LHS for the upgrades and to ask some questions about set-up, the guy behind the counter flew my blade inside the store to check the 4-in-1 settings. I was thrilled to see it lift off, but holy cow he made it look so easy.... (Hovered in a space about 4ft by 6ft). Looking forward to the day I can do that!
