RE: Model in tree - retrieval anyone
A truly sad end for an airplane. I share your pain. Half of my Eagle 2 wing still resides at the top of a 75 foot fir tree. I got the fuselage back. I got a new wing. I've moved on, yet from time to time I still walk down the path and gaze for a few moments at the top of the tree to see if it is still there. It keeps calling to me, wondering why I have foresaken it for another.
It is better to retrieve a damaged beyond repair airplane than to not know its ultimate fate.
Find a pub. Buy a bottle of whisk(e)y, take some scrap balsa and go to the tree. Drink a toast to your airplane, burn the balsa and offer a silent prayer for the well being of your airplane to the gods of wood and trees.
Go home. Drink rest of bottle while gazing at other airplanes. Mope for a week.
It's the only answer now.
I will have a sip or two in sympathy with you... once I've had some breakfast.
