Default H9 1/3 Cap

Glad to hear you did not have to make any mods. Iam concerned however, as to how well these surfaces hold up without a hardpoint on the top side? Without the hardpoint on top, my screw was "mushing" into the soft balsa, and I got real worried. That is why I investigated, and decided to install an 1/8" ply piece on top for each elevator. There is not much meat inside between the bottom hard point and the top balsa. The DP extra had harder balsa, and completely filled the cavity between the top and bottom of the surfaces. DP discouraged using the Rocket city hardware, as not designed for it, meaning no hard point on top. This is what makes me concerned for the Cap! Im very glad to hear of your success, it makes me feel some better, and I have not heard of any failures, so maybe Im just overly cautious. Its my first plane of this size (1/3 scale), and I just want it to be right. Im still debating on the ailerons, I guess I will drill the holes, and think about it! By the way, did yours or anyone else have a hard point on the top of the surfaces? Or is mine just a "fluke" thing?? Thanks for all responses! Much appreciated!
