The only reason that I suggested using a 1/8 scale center diff setup is because they are readily available and affordable on ebay and they are already setup for the proportional brakes.

You might be able to modify the FF's spurs to fit on the center diff. I believe that the center diff spurs have a larger center hole and 3 mounting holes. All of the ones that I have seen have been pretty simple.

I will look around and see what I can turn up.
