RE: Basics for everyone
All the right steps. I tell you I still don't know em all and for sure never will. If I rustled a few feathers here I am sorry but yor all thinking now. Keep it up. We as learned pilots, sometimes the hardway, have a duty to help the new kid on the block succeed. We all know the expence of the game. Even the best get into trouble cause of the fade facture. you forget, become to confident in your abilities and wow, boom in the ground. Then, as I have done on many occasion boot yourself in the butt. My first airplane, which I thought was the most beautiful thing I ever saw was a Cox 049 P40 warhawk. I mean here it is Christmas morning, jumping out of bed, running over to the tree, and this big, bigger than I was box is handed over to you. What could this possably be? Oh man. Ripping off the wrapping and comming to a complete stop, like time had ran out, Eyes as big as the sky. I saw it, green, red dot stars on the wings, amotor, a real gas powered motor, battery, fuel, string. Everything right there. Oh! I tell you this was great, terrific. I pulled it out of the box and just looked at it. From every possable angel. Touched it, felt it, rubbed it, became part of it. Imagined flying the real deal over enemy territory. Oh man this was great. I was a goner. The mold was cast, the nail set, the screw anchord, so now fifty some years later here I am. With the same passion as then. And just as innocent, still trying to learn all I can and trying to help others anyway I can.and if that means a few cages get upset, a few feathers rustled so be it. So many of you are so smart and caring and skilled builders and flyers, take the time to help out. That's all. I mean look at all the airplanes out today. Give you a headache. well, I never got a chance to fly that airplane I loved so much and now I fly what ever I can afford. So I know the ins and outs and disappointments, the greifs. Technology ran pasr me so fast I'm still in a tail spin going down trying to save my butt. And yes like so many others I crash and burn too. Sometimes the mouth overpowers my common sense and that gets me into trouble looking for a way out. Sort of like now. Anyways. What we need here is a place we can all go and meet and have a blast. Aplace the young and old can get together and share stories and talk. Figure out what went wrong. A crash and burn forum. What do you all THINK? oups! there's that word again.
